Frequently asked questions
How does Range Tracer find my shots?
Take one photo of your target after you're done shooting and upload it to a session. A computer-vision model locates the center of each target and every bullet hole on the paper, then measures your group in real centimeters.
What if a shot is missed or detected in the wrong place?
Every processed photo can be reviewed. You can drag a shot or target center to move it, tap to add a shot the model missed, or remove a false one. Your group stats recalculate from the corrected shots.
What's the difference between accuracy and precision?
Accuracy is how far the center of your group is from your point of aim. Precision is how tightly your shots cluster together, regardless of where the group lands. A tight group off to one side is precise but not accurate, which usually points to sights or a consistent flinch rather than inconsistency.
What is CEP?
CEP (circular error probable) is the radius of a circle, centered on your group, that contains 50% of your shots. It's a single number for group size that isn't thrown off by one flyer the way extreme spread is.
Can I track more than one firearm?
Yes. Log a firearm with each session and Range Tracer keeps a running round count and accuracy and precision history for every gun in your arsenal, so you can compare them side by side.
Do I need to use my phone while I'm on the firing line?
No. Shoot the way you normally do, then snap a photo of the target when you're finished. Everything else happens after you're off the line.
Can I share a session with someone?
Yes. You can create a share link for a session so a friend or instructor can see the target and group stats without signing up.
Can I delete my data?
Yes. You can delete individual sessions, or delete your account entirely. Account deletion removes your sessions and photos, as described in our privacy policy.
