Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

This Privacy Policy describes how Range Tracer ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information in connection with the Range Tracer application (the "Service").

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your email address, name, profile picture, and a unique Google account identifier. We do not receive or store your Google password.

Content you provide. Range session records (dates, times, distance), firearm labels you create, and target images you upload.

Derived data. Shot-placement points, accuracy and precision metrics, and other analytics that our automated systems compute from your uploaded images.

We do not currently use third-party advertising or analytics trackers (e.g., ad networks, marketing pixels) in the Service.

Use of images for model training. Target images you upload, including images uploaded before this policy was last updated, may be used to train and improve our machine-learning models. There is currently no setting to opt out of this use; see Section 3 for details.

3. Automated Image Analysis

Target images you upload are processed by an automated machine-learning system to detect shot placement and compute accuracy/precision metrics. This processing is automated; a human does not routinely review your images unless needed for support or abuse investigation.

We also use target images you upload, including images already uploaded before this policy was last updated, to train and improve the machine-learning models used by the Service. This may include models used to analyze images from other users. We do not currently offer a way to opt individual images or accounts out of this use.

4. How We Use Information

We use collected information to:

operate the Service, including authenticating you and generating shot analytics; maintain and improve the Service's reliability and functionality; train and improve the machine-learning models used by the Service; communicate with you about your account or changes to the Service; and detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, or violations of these policies.

5. Where Information Is Stored

Account and session records are stored in a hosted database operated by a third-party database provider. Target images are stored with a third-party cloud storage provider. Image analysis runs on third-party cloud computing infrastructure. These providers act as our service providers/processors and are contractually or by policy restricted from using your data for their own purposes.

6. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with: service providers who host or process data on our behalf (see Section 5); Google, for authentication via Google Sign-In; and third parties when required by law, subpoena, or valid legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of us, our users, or the public.

7. Data Retention

We retain account information, session records, images, and derived analytics for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required for legal, security, or legitimate business purposes. Where an image has already been used to train a machine-learning model before deletion, removing the source image does not remove any influence that image may have already had on the trained model.

8. Your Rights and Choices

You may access, correct, export, or delete your account data by contacting us at support@rangetracer.com. Depending on your location, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) or the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to know what data we hold, request deletion, and object to certain processing.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service involves firearms-related content and is not directed to, and should not be used by, anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us at support@rangetracer.com so we can delete it.

10. International Users

Our infrastructure providers may process and store data in the United States or other countries. By using the Service, you consent to your information being transferred to and processed in those countries, which may have different data protection laws than your own.

11. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your information. However, no method of storage or transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice (such as an in-app notice or updating the "Last updated" date). Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
